Day 1: Boats, Buns & Swedish Meatballs 🇸🇪
⛴ Archipelago Boat Tour
We jumped into an Uber (not a taxi — trust me, Swedish taxis are expensive!) and headed straight to the harbour for a scenic boat tour around the islands. It was cold, but the views? Unmatched. Cozy cottages, untouched nature, and waters only accessible by boat. Book this on GetYourGuide here.
☕ Fika Vibes at Espresso House
With some time before check-in, we stopped at Espresso House — Sweden’s Starbucks equivalent but with way better pastries and chai lattes. We embraced the local tradition of fika, which is all about slowing down and appreciating the moment. These little pauses? That’s what makes nomad life special.
🏨 Check-In with Perks
Our hotel came with 24/7 snacks, breakfast, and the best bit? I used my travel agent license to earn commission. Yes, I earned on my own holiday — digital nomad win.
🧀 Salluhall Market & Local Eats
We wandered into Salluhall Market — open Saturday mornings only — for a browse through stalls of cheese, meatballs, sweets, and more. After a few Swedish pepperami sticks, we headed to Café du Nord for traditional Swedish meatballs. Think IKEA… but authentic, richer, better.
💆♀️ Swedish Massage
Next stop: self-care mode. We got a Swedish massage from a lovely local therapist, Jasmine — a small business owner who was amazing. We left feeling like new humans.
🍷 Dinner & Dancing
Dinner was at Barabiku (reservation needed!), then off to Nefertiti for a Dancehall Explosion night. Good food, great energy, and even better company.
Day 2: Cinnamon Buns, Science Museums & Rooftop Spas ✨
🥐 Free Breakfast, Travel Agent Wins
We kicked off the day with a free hotel breakfast — yep, free — all thanks to my travel agent license, which gets me VIP perks at hotels across the globe.
🍩 Hagabullen Heaven at Café Husaren
Next, we headed to Café Husaren for the famous Hagabullen — a giant cinnamon bun that could honestly feed a small village (or two girls on a sugar high). This café is iconic and a must-visit if you’re ever in Gothenburg.
🏰 Skansen Kronan Views
Then it was time to work off the sugar with a walk up to Skansen Kronan, a historic fortress offering panoramic views over the city. It was a little windy (hello, March in Europe), but totally worth it. And I’ve got some sunny escapes booked soon, so I wasn’t too bothered.
🌿 Universium Adventures
After that, we explored Universium, Gothenburg’s science museum — and wow, it was way more impressive than we expected. There was a full rainforest inside, a massive aquarium, and even interactive exhibits. Naturally, I gave my bestie a full David Attenborough moment (Cambridge Geography grad things ✌️).
🧖♀️ Luxury at Jacy’z Pool & Spa Club
Then came the main event: Jacy’z Pool & Spa Club. This place is pure luxury. You get a robe, towel, slippers, and access to rooftop pools, cozy lounges, and poolside cocktails. The perfect girls’ day out.
Bonus? I can show you how to get experiences like this for free with the right travel perks.
🥗 Dinner by the River
We wrapped up the day with a beautiful dinner at a riverside restaurant just steps from our hotel. Sunset views, fresh Swedish bread, juicy steak and mash — the vibes were immaculate.
✈️ Back to Reality… or Not?
Just like that, it was time to fly home. But we packed culture, food, relaxation, and fun into 48 hours — and that’s what this lifestyle is all about.
If you’re dreaming of exploring the world without breaking the bank, earning while you travel, and living on your own terms — this is your sign.
